BIBLE IN A YEAR: Psa 58-60
PROXIMITY TO GOALS
MEMORIZE: "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed" (Romans 13:11)
READ: Romans 13:10-14
“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light” (Romans 13:12). Another salient question you must ask is, How close or how far am I from my goals? If you say you are working for God and you have not set periodic goals for yourself, you are only playing a game of self-deception. Without goals, at best you will be active but aimless. When the time to take stock comes, such a fellow would have spent so much time without accomplishing much. Are you a worker? Set goals for yourself. Are you a minister, pastor or church leader? Set goals for yourself. List what you want to achieve for God in your life time. Break this goal into different areas of your life. Have a focus of what you want to achieve for the next 10 or five years. Where do you want to be in level of anointing, Word, humility, Christ likeness, soul winning, giving, etc. Thereafter, state these goals within monthly, quarterly, biannual and yearly periods. Come up with what steps to take to accomplish each of them. Work to conform with this time table and at the end you will reach your goal.
Have you discovered God’s plan and purpose for your life? How close are you to fulfilling it? Years spent as an unbeliever are wasted: Hence you have to maximize the remaining of your days. Some time ago, a sister who was almost 70 years met me and said she would no longer pay her tithe. Surprised, I asked why? She said she regretted wasting her past gratifying the flesh and concluded that henceforth, she would pay 20% instead of 10% as tithe, with the hope of regaining some lost grounds. Some people are miles away from the goals they set some 5, 10 or more years ago. Examine your situation and find out what is hindering you from realizing them. Seek God’s face concerning them and ask Him to help you overcome them. This is the time to run for the Master. There is no resting on your oars until you get to the Beulah land. Pursue Kingdom-based, God-glorifying goals. Dump every selfish ambition and pursuit. God is not interested in any self-centered goal. Make amends today.
ACTIONPOINT: Critically examine why you have not been able to achieve previous goals. List ways you could prevent subsequent delays.
