BIBLE IN A YEAR: 2 Chron 33-36
FEAR FORBIDDEN
MEMORIZE: "But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine" (Isaiah 43:1)
READ: Isaiah 43:1-3
In 2 Kings 6:15, Elisha’s servant, confronted by the invading Syrian army cried out “Alas my Master! How shall we do?” In the face of trouble he turned to his master. We all turn to someone or something in times of trouble. Some turn to witch doctors and some to idols. Some take refuge in cults and secret societies, etc. Idols and demons fail you when you need them most (1 Kings 18:26-29). It is foolhardy to look up to someone who cannot help you in time of trouble. There are those who turn to man when in trouble; but the scripture says vain is the help of man. Confidence in the ability of a man in time of trouble puts you under a curse. If God does not allow that man to pray for you, that will be the end of the fellow. The worshippers of Dagon saw the helplessness of their god (1 Samuel 5:2-5). Turn away from dumb idols!
Elisha’s servant said, “My Master” and not ‘Master’. This personalizes your helper during moments of crisis. If you make God your helper, He will make a way out of the woods. He will respond speedily to your distress call because He promised and He is a covenant keeper (Jeremiah 33:3). But if there is unconfessed sin in your life, God may not respond. Apart from this, God does not take pleasure in delaying answers to prayers. He is not happy to see you live in poverty, sickness or sorrow. Hence, He says in Isaiah 65:24, “And It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear”.
Elisha spontaneously told his servant ‘Fear not’. There are at least 365 “Fear Nots” in the Bible which means if you take one for each day, you could live without fear each year. The word FEAR has been defined False Evidence Appearing Real. Do you know that most of the things you fear will never take place? Fear has triggered sorrow for many. What you fear will haunt or taunt you. By being afraid, you deliberately create room for an unexpected evil to occur. Fear is the doorway to several sicknesses and problems. One thing you have to consciously fight is fear. Use God’s Word, testimonies and praying in the spirit to build up faith in your spirit man. Reject and return every arrow of fear shot against you. It shall be well with you.
ACTIONPOINT: Ask God to dislodge every spirit of fear from your heart. Thank Him for the Spirit of Boldness.
