BIBLE IN A YEAR: Acts 10-12
FAITHFULNESS IS MENTORING
MEMORIZE: "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2)
READ: 2 Timothy 2:1-2
“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2). Another component of faithfulness is the ability to positively affect others with the fire or zeal in you. For a teacher to be faithful, he must be able to reproduce himself in others. That means, the teaching gift in him must not die with him; He must raise or mentor more teachers who are either as good, or even better than himself. A leader who cannot train and develop other leaders capable of taking his place has failed, and is therefore unfaithful. To this end, the ability of the Lord in reproducing several little Christs who became known as Christians, and are yet affecting the world today, shows the high degree of faithfulness He exhibited. If you cannot reproduce somebody to take over from you, you are unfaithful. Those who deliberately sit on others and prevent them from rising, are millions of miles from faithfulness. In the department, parish, area, zone, province or other ministerial assignment you occupy, have you got your replacement? If you have none to replace you, there will be no room for your elevation. If things go wrong whenever you are not in the office, church or department, it is because you are a bad manager of human resources!
“And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin” (Romans 14:23). Faithfulness is faith. Anyone who walks in doubt, unbelief and fear can never be faithful. To be faithful suggests you are full of faith. Anything you do that is not done in faith is a departure from this coveted prize. Similarly, faithfulness is the ability to keep God’s secrets. Proverbs 11:13 says, “A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter”. If in your dealings with men, you find it difficult to keep confidential information, you are unfaithful; So also in our dealings with God. The leader who turns confidential information of subordinates into gossip, is unfaithful. If you are a gossip or have no control over your tongue, you can never be faithful. Faithfulness is a spirit. It is either you have it or you do not. Faithfulness is also an attribute that you can develop. Faithfulness is a passion that can put all other considerations as secondary in pursuit of the Master’s goal. Are you faithful?
ACTIONPOINT: Ask that all components of faithfulness will manifest in your life from today.
