BIBLE IN A YEAR: Ezek . 46-48

TWIN SISTERS

MEMORIZE: "And Israel joined himself unto Baal-peor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel" (Numbers 25:3)

READ: Numbers 25:1-5

“And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods” (Number 25:2).

According to 1 Samuel 15:23, there is a link between witchcraft and idolatry. Every witch, wizard or subscriber to the occult in any form is an idolater. In today’s passage, another link is established between fornication and idolatry. This simply shows that a common thread runs through fornication, witchcraft and idolatry. If you are a fornicator, Satan will give you something else- an idol to take the place of God in your life. It is impossible for the one who is living in fornication to serve God.

Every fornicator is either into witchcraft, or is a victim of witchcraft. These heinous sins are combined, hence God cannot stand anyone who fornicates. Fornication and witchcraft are twin sisters. A married woman was attracted to one of her male co-workers who was a Christian. At night, he dreamt that she came and had sex with him. It looked so real. The following morning, while the brother was still wondering whether the event of the previous night was a dream or not, the woman came to him with peering eyes, smiled and said: “How was last night?”. It was then it dawned on him it was no dream. It was real! He was being spiritually manipulated through witchcraft. He got angry in his spirit and started some violent prayers for a period. Within a few days, the woman suffered a terrible attack that almost took her life.

In the witches coven, fornication is a free for all activity. They deliberately engage in it to provoke God to anger. One way you can easily recognize a witch or wizard is their loose and seductive nature. Another evil of fornication is the loss of power or vision. If you fornicate, you can easily loose spiritual power. In fact, sexual immorality (sex related sins) is the fastest way to drain the anointing and presence of God from any believer or servant of God. According to our reading, for a long time Balak, king of the Moabites sought to destroy the children of Israel without success. He tried several war strategies but they failed. Then he invited Balaam to use spiritual means to curse them. That also failed. Eventually, he tried the strategy of fornication. Seductive ladies came in the nude into the Israeli camp to dance. Fornication entered. Then idolatry. After this, God turned against His own people. Do you know the enemy is waiting for an opportunity to strike at you? He will never find such a chance as long as you remain holy. But if you venture into fornication, you are finished. Fornication turns a victor into a victim. Don’t become a victim.

ACTIONPOINT: Ask that God's judgment will come on unrepentant agents of darkness sent to seduce men and women of God all over the world.
