BIBLE IN A YEAR: Ezek. 40-42
WORSHIP IN GIVING
MEMORIZE: "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully" (2 Cor. 9:6)
READ: Matthew 2:9-12
“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11). The wise men from the East sought the Lord and He provided them divine guidance. Divine guidance is simply God’s route to a destination. There are several routes - some bad, some good. Some lead to the expected destination at great cost, while some lead nowhere. God’s route, however leads you to the intended destination at Heaven’s expense.
When you seek Heaven, you save a lot of time, money, energy and other resources. You joyfully enter your destination like the wise men, when you seek God. Another thing we notice about the wise men on arrival in the house of Joseph, was that they fell down and worshiped Jesus and He accepted their worship. At this time, Jesus was about two years old living with His parents in Nazareth, where they have been since His dedication to the Lord, 41 days after His birth (Luke 2:7,21-39). Even later in life, He received the worship of men because He is God. Only divine persons must be worshiped according to Revelation 19:10, 22:8-9. Any worship outside of the Trinity; God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, is idolatry. Anyone who worships an object, local or international deity, an angel or man, is an idolater. That worship is misplaced, and will surely attract the judgement of God.
Similarly, on arrival, after worshipping Jesus, the wise men opened their treasury to Him, carefully selected their best gifts - gold, frankincense and myrrh and offered to the Lord. You can be certain that the wise men lived in affluence for the rest of their days. If you open your treasury - bank accounts and most valuable assets to the King of kings, He will open the Heavenly treasury to you. You can never exhaust that heavenly treasury both in time and eternity. Unlike the wise men, many arrange their money in different denominations into different pockets. They keep the highest denominations away and give paltry sums to God. My God is not a beggar. If you cannot empty your treasury to Him, you are miles away from the wisdom of the wise men. What can you give that He has not given to you? How long will you be miserly with the One who created you, and can stop your breath at any time? In any case, always back your gifts with worship. Any gift or service not delivered with an attitude of worship may be rejected.
ACTIONPOINT:Only wise men and women open their treasuries to the Owner of the Greatest Treasury.
