BIBLE IN A YEAR: Luk. 22-24

SIN REPELLENT?

MEMORIZE: "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:" (John 16:8)

READ: John 16:7-11

The world is waiting to see modern day believers demonstrate the power of God as in times past. We had a taste of this on a trip with my father in the Lord - late Pa Josiah Akindayomi. We travelled to the United States. In the hotel we lodged, we held a prayer session on the eighth floor. As prayer progressed, the presence of the Holy Spirit became so strong that the experience remains indelible in my mind. While we prayed, there were violent vibrations in the building. It was so severe that some of their workers in the engineering department ran to our room and violently banged the door.

When we opened to know why we were being disturbed, they said: “Gentlemen, what’s the matter? Why are you using a heavy duty equipment on the hotel floor, capable of collapsing the entire building?” We replied that we never used any such instrument. But they did not believe us. They ransacked the whole apartment in search of the instrument to no avail. It took us some time to convince them we did not use any equipment. All we did was pray and there was a repeat of what happened in Acts 4:31. It says “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness”.

How we need such power and presence of God today!

A woman of God entered a hotel some years ago. It was as if the Holy Spirit enveloped the building. Not long after, hotel guests who were busy fornicating, suddenly became convicted of their sins, broke down sobbing, and asking God for forgiveness in their various chalets. They did not see the woman of God but the presence of the Holy Spirit convicted them of sin, righteousness and judgement. All because a woman stepped into a hotel! How is it with us today? Many leaders today are carrying strange fire- the fire of lust, instead of the fire of the Holy Spirit. No wonder genuine salvation is becoming a rarity in our churches. Today, the church is touring the path of the world by exposing parts of the body that should be covered. Like the world, they are feeding the eyes of lust of members. No wonder there is no revival! In any way you have contributed to this sorry state of the church, repent now and turn a new leaf before it is too late.

ACTIONPOINT
If some pastors' wives step into a hotel today, they could easily pass on as prostitutes because of their dressing. Is your dressing feeding the flesh or spirit?
